
While you can find very cheap Windows PCs for $350, you get what you pay for. They come with second-rate processors and crippled versions of Windows. All Macs come with the full featured version of the operating system, Intel's first-rate processors, and full versions of great software. In total cost of ownership studies, Macs routinely come out as being cheaper over the life of the computer. Macs usually have a longer productive life, they need servicing less often, and they don't require the ongoing costs for virus, spyware, and malware protection software and subscriptions.

While artists have long favored Macs, they aren't designed for artists. It probably has to do with the ease of use of Macs and the fact that you don't have to be an engineer to figure them out.
